FIG-YS and UN-Habitat/GLTN: Volunteer Community Surveyor Program - expression of interest

Have you attended one of the STDM Training of Trainers or Awareness Events? And would you like to volunteer your time and skills to join an initiative of the Global Land Tool Network and the FIG young surveyors.

 Then fill in this form:

 Expression of Interest With this application form you can express your interest to join the program. Priority will be given to Young Surveyors who have successfully completed a STDM Training or STDM Awareness Event. Global Land Tool Network facilitated by UN-HABITAT and the FIG Young Surveyors Network will review and if necessary, verify the information you have submitted. Should your interest matches an opportunity and its requirements, we will contact you. 
(Your expression of interest as submitted do not amount to an acceptance into VCSP and a placement into a project. Any decision is based on a metric of considerations and is at the sole discretion of the project holder)

FIG Foundation is supporting Young Surveyors to attend the FIG Working Week in Helsinki, Finland

The FIG Foundation Young Surveyors Fellowships will provide funding for individuals to cover the costs to attend and participate in the FIG Working Week 2017, including participation in all FIG Young Surveyors activities before and during the Working Week.

The Fellowships will be awarded exclusively to nationals of developing countries¹ who must be living in one of the eligible countries.

Fellowships include round‐trip travel costs to Helsinki , visa (if required), accommodations, registration fees for the FIG Working Week, FIG Young Surveyors activities, per diem allowance and FIG Foundation Dinner.

The FIG Working Week 2017 will be held in Helsinki, Finland, 29 May ‐ 2 June. In addition to the Working Week, the FIG Young Surveyors European Meeting (Sunday 28 May) and young surveyors sessions will be organised and contribute to the networking of young surveyors internationally, to introduce young surveyors to the FIG community, and to provide for the opportunity to learn more and share the young surveyors’ vision for the future of FIG. Additionally the FIG Foundation Fellowship winners are invited to join the UN-Habitat GLTN Awareness Training on STDM on 29 May.

4th FIG Young Surveyors European Meeting


Report FIG Young Surveyors North American Meeting

On the 10th of February 2016 the 2nd FIG Young Surveyors North American Meeting (FIG YSNAM) took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA. Young Surveyors from the region were invited to join this event.  The meeting was hosted by and held in conjunction with the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS) Annual Conference.

The theme of the meeting was ‘The Future of Surveying… YOU!!!’. Key industry leaders were asked to inspire the participants about the future ahead of them. Also the participants learned more about FIG, FIG Young Surveyors Network and NSPS Young Surveyors.

The event attracted 60 participants from 6 countries and 23 different states of the USA. For many participants it was their first young surveyor event. In this report the different organizations related to the Young Surveyors are summarized and the results of the meeting are described.

2nd FIG Young Surveyors North American Meeting

It is on!!! 2nd FIG Young Surveyors North American Meeting (FIG YSNAM)!!! It is a great honor to announce the 2nd FIG Young Surveyors North American meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA on February 10, 2016 and we want to invite you to join us in the second celebration of this encounter. Congratulations to the winners of the CLGE/FIG YSN Students' Contest

Three Young Surveyors participated in the CLGE/FIG YSN Students’ Contest and won in their category. The President of CLGE, Maurice Barbieri, Switzerland made the announcement during INTERGEO in Stuttgart, Germany, September 2015. The categories were

  • Galileo, EGNOS, Copernicus – sponsored by European Global Navigation Satellite Systems Agency

 FIG Young Surveyors Network in Sofia, Bulgaria

The 3rd Young Surveyors European Meeting was held in sunny Sofia, Bulgaria on the 16 May 2015. About 50 keen young professionals from 20 countries gathered together to share and explore new ideas, address pressing issues and focus on the future development for the European YS Network.
