The FIG Foundation and the FIG Young Surveyors Network invite
every Young Surveyors* to apply for the FIG Foundation Grant to
attend and participate in the next FIG Working Week 2020 and 5th
FIG Young Surveyors Conference.
This opportunity is reserved for deserving Young Surveyors,
that is:
- Young Surveyors (YS)
Surveying students (and all related studies) aged
35 years or under
- Young Surveying Professionals (YSP)
Young Professionals of surveying and all related
studies within 10 years of graduation from a Bachelor or
Master’s degree aged 35 years or under

3rd Young Surveyors Network Asia & the Pacific
Meeting and FIG Working Week 2019
The theme “Geospatial Information for a Smarter Life and
Environmental Resilience” focused on tackling the climate
changes by working towards a smarter life both through the
development of smart cities and in rural areas. Spatial
information, big data, surveying, BIM, land administration and
much more are essential factors in this development.
The FIG Working Week 2019 was incredibly successful. The
Young Surveyors organized several events namely: the 3rd FIG
Young Surveyors Network Asia & the Pacific Meeting (3YSAPM), Hoa
Lu-Tam Coc Eco Tour, YSN Charity Dance, Speed Networking,
Conference Technical Sessions- “Mapping the Plastic” with FIG
Commission 4 and “Connecting the Dots”, and a Plenary Session –
“Everyone’s Contribution’s Count!!!”.
Young Surveyors Network 2nd African Meeting
Connecting the generations for our common future
25-26 November 2019 in Dakar, Senegal
The 2nd Young Surveyors Africa Meeting (2YSAM) was a two-day
event that brought together over 50 Young Surveyors, providing
an environment for Young Surveyors from different cultures, and
countries, with different academic qualifications, and
professional experiences to discuss the issues facing the
region, and plan for a resilient future.
In all, the two days demonstrated growing need for the
involvement of young surveyors, not just as surveyors of the
future, but as change makers of today.
Young Surveyors Network 6th European Meeting
Mapping the path to sustainability
11-12 October 2019 in Porto, Portugal
The 6th Young Surveyors European Meeting was held in the
beautiful city of Porto, Portugal on the 11th and 12th of
October 2019. About 40 keen young professionals and students
from 15 countries gathered together to share and explore new
ideas, address pressing issues and focus on the future
development for the European YS Network.
Young Surveyors Network North American Meeting
3rd NSPS-FIG Young Surveyors Network North American Meeting took
place in College Park, Maryland on October 2018. The meeting was
based on four major session themes: Looking Ahead, Technology,
Leadership and Feedback and made possible thanks to various
sponsors:

Maryland Society of Surveyors, DC Land Surveyors Association,

The FIG Foundation invites all Young Surveyors to
apply for funds to participate in the 1st Young Surveyors
African Meeting (YSAM) and the 2018 FIG-African Regional Network
Meeting taking place in Gaborone, Botswana, on the 16th and
17th-19th of October respectively.
Please provide the required documents to
youngsurveyors.africa@gmail.com. The latest date to
submit your application is the 7th of September, 2018 at
17.00GMT.
On 12th of September, 2018, the selection will be made and
announced by the FIG Foundation. Please note that the FIG
Foundation grant will support travel and accommodation costs.
All other costs are the responsibility of the successful
recipient of a grant

FIG Young Surveyors at ESRI User Conference
9-13 July 2018, San Diego, CA, United States
On the first day of the
Esri UC, Monday 9 July, we will kick-off the
FIG Young Surveyors Network Sessions at 12:00 o’clock in
Room 25C. We will start with an introductory presentation by
Brent Jones, Global Manager Land Records and
Cadastre Esri. We
will introduce FIG YSN in that session and Raquel Perez
will present on the Esri Young Professionals Network.
Then we will start with our very first session –
Surveyors Across Borders: How Geospatial Education Differs.
The goal of this session is to learn how the
surveying/geospatial/GIS education is handled in different
countries and what the major differences between them are.
Several
#YoungSurveyors will present on the educational system of
their country, we will work on new ideas and learn from each
other. So join us in this session!

5th FIG-YS European Meeting 2017 Helsinki, Finland
On the 28th of May 2016 the 5th FIG Yougn Surveyors European
Meeting and FIG Working Week 2017 took place in Helsinki,
Finland.
The theme of the Working Week “Surveying the world of
tomorrow – From digitalization to augmented reality“ reflects
the continuous development around us. Tomorrow is only a short
step away or maybe here already today.
In total 50 enthusiastic young surveyors from 20 different
countries gathered to share and explore the world of tomorrow
with fellow peers with focus on two key themes: The evolution:
'Then, now and Beyond' and Delivering the Digital Dream.

4th FIG Young Surveyors European Meeting

Report FIG Young Surveyors North American Meeting
On the 10th of February 2016 the 2nd FIG Young Surveyors
North American Meeting (FIG YSNAM) took place in Minneapolis,
Minnesota USA. Young Surveyors from the region were invited to
join this event. The meeting was hosted by and held in
conjunction with the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors
(MSPS) Annual Conference.
The theme of the meeting was ‘The Future of Surveying…
YOU!!!’. Key industry leaders were asked to inspire the
participants about the future ahead of them. Also the
participants learned more about FIG, FIG Young Surveyors Network
and NSPS Young Surveyors.
The event attracted 60 participants from 6 countries and 23
different states of the USA. For many participants it was their
first young surveyor event. In this report the different
organizations related to the Young Surveyors are summarized and
the results of the meeting are described.

Sofia, Bulgaria on the 16 May 2015. About 50 keen young
